Consider being a professional mentor for a University of Washington Biostatistics student in the Master of Science programs and make a positive impact on the next generation of biostatisticians.
The Professional Mentor Program supplements a student’s real-world capstone project by exposing them to industry professionals and academics.
Current mentors span the career spectrum with representatives from healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, non-profit research centers, and government agencies.
Past and current mentors have included individuals with 20+ years of experience, as well as dynamic public health professionals at the start of their exciting careers.
Alumni ‘pay it forward’ as professional mentors
Story highlighting 2023 mentors
Every year, the University of Washington Department of Biostatistics offers students in the Master of Science Capstone Program the option to be paired with a professional mentor, a relationship that provides valuable career advice to students and the opportunity to establish a connection with someone outside academia.
“Being paired with a mentor has been very successful for students,” said Minh Vo, associate director of student services in the department. “The insights they gain from discussions with practicing professionals complements what students learn in their academic program and better prepares them for careers after graduation.”
