Alzheimer's Disease Sequencing Project (ADSP) Coordinating Center

The Alzheimer’s Disease Sequencing Project (ADSP) was initiated in 2012 to leverage the promise of next-generation sequencing to identify genes and variants that influence either risk for or protection from Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (AD/ADRD).

The ADSP Coordinating Center (ADSP CC), established in September 2025, will serve as a central hub for all ADSP activities. Building on ADSP’s productivity to date, the ADSP CC will have the following primary functions.

The ADSP CC can be contacted at adspcc@uw.edu

Administration and Coordination:

  • Central point of contact for communication within ADSP and externally
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for all ADSP Working Groups and Committees
  • Manage a new central ADSP website (coming soon) to provide information and resources for both investigators and the public
  • Develop comprehensive reports to track ADSP progress
  • Plan and implement annual program meetings

Collaboration and Outreach:

  • Facilitate ADSP-wide strategic planning to collaboratively refocus and update the project’s organizational structure and governance to accelerate progress
  • Promote synergy and enhance teamwork across ADSP components
  • Provide direct scientific and project management support to new multi-component collaborative research projects
  • Strengthen existing and establish new partnerships with the global AD/ADRD research community
  • Coordinate with data producers and repositories to support production, documentation, and sharing of FAIR (findable, usable, interoperable, and reproducible) data

Education and Training:

  • Enhance and expand the pool of engaged scientists through targeted education and training initiatives
  • Develop, generate, and disseminate distance learning modules
  • Engage early-stage investigators from a variety of disciplines in mentorship cohorts
  • Provide education and training outreach through virtual office hours and academic workshops
  • Design and operate an ADSP fellowship program to support innovative pilot projects

Across these domains, the ADSP CC will facilitate dissemination of ADSP research findings, progress, data, software, tools, and other products and resources to the broader scientific community and the general public.

Leadership and Structure:

The ADSP CC is led by our Principal Investigators:

  • Dr. Ken Rice (Contact PI), University of Washington Department of Biostatistics: lead of Administration, Coordination, and Dissemination
  • Dr. Anita DeStefano (MPI), Boston University School of Public Health: lead of Education and Training
  • Dr. Michael Hawrylycz (MPI), Allen Institute: lead of Collaboration and Outreach

Staff from the University of Washington Department of Biostatistics Genetic Analysis Center (GAC) serve as key ADSP CC staff. Staff include:
