I am currently a third year PhD student in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Washington. My research interests fall primarily in statistical genetics, especially regarding hierarchical and compositional data. I have also done work in the area of population genetics and identity by descent.

Originally from Grand Rapids, MI, I received my B.S. in biology and mathematics from Calvin College. My non-statistical interests include running, baking, and playing as many stringed instruments as I can, though I am particularly fond of my viola.
