Gary Chan to serve as WNAR president-elect for 2021

Gary Chan, professor of biostatistics and health services with the University of Washington School of Public Health, was recently voted president-elect of the Western North American Region (WNAR) of The International Biometric Society.

As president, Chan will supervise the affairs of WNAR, serve as the presiding officer at Regional Committee and other meetings, and appoint representatives and committee members for matters of importance. WNAR activities include an annual scientific conference as well as a popular student paper competition. Chan will serve as president-elect for 2021, president in 2022, and past-president in 2023.

WNAR promotes the development and application of statistical and mathematical theory and methods in the biosciences. Its membership includes scientists from 13 states and three Canadian provinces.
