Daniela Witten elected to Institute of Mathematical Statistics' Council

Daniela Witten elected as council member for the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS)

We are proud to announce that Daniela Witten, professor of biostatistics and statistics and the Dorothy Gilford endowed Chair of Mathematical Statistics, has been elected as a council member for the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS). Witten's term will officially start in September 2021.

IMS is an international professional and scholarly society devoted to the development, dissemination, and application of statistics and probability. The institute publishes a variety of journals and holds several international conferences every year. 

The IMS Council is composed of members of the Executive Committee, IMS Journal Editors, IMS Managing Editor, and fifteen IMS Elected Council Members each serving for three years. The responsibility of the IMS Council is stated in the Handbook as: “In furtherance of the purpose of the Institute, the Council shall determine the policies and supervise the affairs of the Institute in accordance with the Constitution and with any By-Laws the Institute may adopt.”
