We are a center of excellence for development and application of statistical methodology across the health sciences, and have collaborative partnerships with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Children’s Hospital Research Institute, Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute, and the Veterans Administration.

Members of the department conduct methodological research in a broad range of areas, including biomarkers, causal inference, clinical trials, environmental and spatial statistics, epidemiological methods, high-dimensional data and statistical learning, longitudinal and multilevel data, statistical genetics, and survival analysis. We also collaborate with scientists around the world to advance knowledge and innovation in public health, biology, and medicine.

Faculty, research staff, and students also collaborate with scientists in many other departments to advance knowledge in public health, biology, and medicine.
