I am the IT Director for the University of Washington Department of Biostatistics.  With a staff of two senior computing specialists, a system administrator and a web developer,I have the responsibility for IT operations in the Department, the Genetics Analysis Center (GAC) and the Center for Biomedical Statistics (CBS).  I have more than twenty years experience in Unix and Linux system administration (including DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NFS and network administration) and fifteen years experience in database design and development. I design the IT infrastructure, specify the hardware and software needed to implement the infrastructure, install operating systems and system software, and document systems and infrastructure.  I am responsible for computing security in all units.  I manage the IT personnel that support the department, GAC and CBS and help set computing policy for all units.  I hold certifications in system administration and information system security.
