Biostatistics Student Seminar: Avi Kenny

Presentation: Using data to improve community health systems in rural Liberia

Speaker: Avi Kenny, Graduate Student, UW Biostatistics

Abstract: Last Mile Health (LMH) is a non-governmental organization that partners with governments to improve access to primary healthcare services in the world’s most remote communities. As part of this work, LMH engages in a number of research, monitoring, and evaluation (RM&E) activities designed to measure the effectiveness and quality of its community health programs. This talk will cover three topics: (1) an introduction to survey research methods in developing-world settings, (2) a deep dive into the application of these methods at LMH, including problems encountered in the field and how they were handled, and (3) a brief overview of other RM&E activities at LMH.
