Doctoral students recognized for excellence

Earlier this month, the Department of Biostatistics honored three students for excellence.

Hongxiang Qiu, a second year doctoral student in biostatistics was named as the 2018 recipient of the Donovan J. Thompson Award. The award, which is named in honor of Donovan J. Thompson who served as department chair from 1973 to 1983, recognizes the best combined performance on the PhD Applied and Theory qualifying exams.

Brian Williamson and Kelsey Grinde, also doctoral students in biostatisics were named as co-recipients of the 2018 Excellence in Teaching Award for Graduate Students. Williamson and Grinde will each take part as invited speakers at the inaugural UW Biostatistics Colloquium on November 8.
