University of Washington Residence Halls (Dorms)
UW Conferences Services is now accepting reservations to stay in the UW Residence Halls (dorms) for SIB 2013 attendees on a space-available basis only. Please read all of the information thoroughly about staying in the UW Residence Halls to ensure you understand their policies and make a well-informed decision about your lodging needs.

From UW Conference Services: Thank you for your interest in summer housing through the Visiting Scholars Program at the University of Washington, Seattle campus. Housing is available from Sunday, 23 June through Saturday, 31 August 2013. Guests eligible for housing are visiting students and visiting personnel 18 years of age or older pursuing research, internships, educational or employment opportunities in the greater Seattle area. Visiting students must present current college or university identification at check-in. Sponsorship by the UW Department of Biostatistics for the Summer Institutes in Biostatistics has been verified with UW Conference Services.

Making a Reservation: Please go to the Visiting Scholars Program Housing site, review the information, and download and complete a Visiting Scholars Program Reservation Form. Along with the standard reservation information, the following additional information will be required to complete the Reservation Form:

  • Guest Type: You will be attending a conference/camp at UW
  • UW Contact/Sponsor: Sandra Coke, UW Biostatistics,
  • Room Type: Single or Double. If you select a Double room, you must indicate roommate preferences, and mutual requests will be honored. Each overnight guest must submit a separate reservation form and payment.
  • Room Choice: Please select "Private Bath, West Campus", which are the newest and closest UW Residence Hall rooms to the summer institute.

Note: You can either download and complete the paper Reservation Form OR you can complete the online Reservation Form. Those paying with check will have to complete a paper form and mail it in to UW Conference Services; those paying with credit card are encouraged to complete the online form.

In order to confirm your reservation, please complete the online reservation form and submit prepayment or the $50.00 minimum reservation deposit no later than 3 business days prior to arrival. Reservations are processed on a space-available basis and are nontransferable. Available housing inventory is limited and early applications are encouraged.

Rates are per person per night:

Single occupancy: $85.00/night
Double occupancy: $50.00/night

Accommodations
Conference guests will reside in double- or single-occupancy rooms with private baths. All rooms are furnished with twin-size beds, desks, nightstands, dressers, bedding, towels, a small fan, soap, toilet paper and drinking cups. Telephones providing Conference guests with free local service are available at the Conference Desk. University of Washington residence halls are passively ventilated and not air conditioned. Hardwired Ethernet access is available in sleeping rooms for those who bring their computers (Ethernet cord required). University of Washington wireless access is available in all public areas of campus and is also accessible in guest rooms. The required login and password are issued by the Conference Desk. Microwave ovens, laundry facilities, television lounges and other gathering areas are conveniently located in each residence hall. Guests may deposit funds into their conference card laundry account at the Conference Desk. University of Washington residence halls are designed for adult usage, and facilities are not childproof. Adults are responsible for the supervision of their children at all times. Smoking anywhere at the University of Washington is prohibited including in residence hall sleeping rooms. A list of designated outdoor smoking areas is available from the Conference Desk. The University of Washington is a pedestrian campus, and the residence halls are within a ten- to fifteen-minute walk of most meeting facilities on campus.

Check-In
Guests can check in at the Conference Desk located at Terry Hall during the hours of 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The residence halls are nearby in the West Campus area.
