Aim:  To foster collaborative research in the area of "gene-environment interactions," with an emphasis on molecular and population-based studies related to: drug & chemical metabolism, cancer, birth defects, chronic neurological diseases, and pulmonary diseases such as asthma. The Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Facility core of the CEEH provides support for the design of microarray studies and the analysis of microarray-generated data.

Aims: One of five centers around the country funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency to study the effects on human health of particulate air pollution.  Center-supported research will contribute to decisions about air quality standards and to the understanding of how we are affected by the air we breathe. The Statistics and Data Core of the Center is led by Biostatistics faculty.  It is designed to support all the database management, data sharing, and statistical analysis needs of the PM Center investigators.  Through its regular meetings this core does regular consulting for the PM Center investigators and gives biostatistics students exposure to collaborative research in air pollution.

Aims: The mission of the IPHG is to provide broad, multidisciplinary training for future public health professionals, to facilitate research in public health genetics, and to serve as a resource for continuing professional education. The Department of Biostatistics provides faculty-level administrative and teaching contributions to the IPHG's Master of Science Program in Genetic Epidemiology.

Aims: The NACC is the data coordinating center for the 32 NIA-funded Alzheimer's Disease Centers (ADCs) in the U.S., and its database holds information on over 50,000 research subjects. NACC also peer reviews and funds collaborative pilot studies among ADCS, and approximately $900K is made available each year to fund 3 or 4 of these collaborative studies.
