Sen Zhao receives top award in ASA student paper competition

January 4, 2016

Biostatistics graduate student Sen Zhao has been honored with the 2016 David P. Byar Young Investigator Award for his first place paper in the American Statistical Association (ASA) Student Paper Competitions in the Biometrics section.  The award includes travel funds allowing Zhao to present his winning paper, "High-Dimensional Hypothesis Testing with the Lasso" at the 2016 Joint Statistical Meeting in Chicago, IL.

Zhao's paper proposed a simple hypothesis testing framework for high-dimensional linear regression. This framework also unifies the two existing and seemingly unrelated classes of high-dimensional inference methods.
