Topic: Data Monitoring Committees: The Independent Statistician’s Perspective
Speakers: David Kerr & Shannon Grant, Axio Research
Abstract: Data Monitoring Committees (DMCs) are a key group to protect the safety of trial participants, the credibility of the study and the validity of study results. DMCs review unblinded results during the course of the study to ensure it is safe and ethical to continue the study. DMCs are supported by an independent statistical center such as Axio. We will describe actual DMC experiences from the perspective of the independent statistical center, and discuss the evolving role of DMCs in clinical trials.
