RA/TA/Trainee Appointments

Please read this notice before searching for RA/TA appointments:

1) Students nearing the end of their current graduate student service appointment (RA or TA) or students without current financial support should regularly check this web page for available openings. Preference rankings of the available positions should be submitted in writing or by e-mail to the Student Support Office at bsupport@u.washington.edu.

2) Decisions regarding offering a position to any student will take into account the stated preferences of the student, the qualifications of the student applicant, and the needs of the department and departmental faculty.

3) Preference for all positions is given to students who have been guaranteed financial support when they were admitted to the program. Other students will be considered for an RA or TA position only when no qualified student with a guarantee of support has applied.

4) Students who have been guaranteed financial support are still expected to apply for individual positions. Guarantees of financial support are contingent upon a student being willing to apply for all available positions. Students with guaranteed support may indicate their desire to be considered for all available positions by communicating that general statement in writing or by e-mail to the Student Support Office at bsupport@u.washington.edu.

5) NIH Traineeships will be advertised on this site as they become available. Traineeships are open only to U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents who are already in or admitted to the doctoral program. More information on traineeships may be found at these two sites:
